Within our Willows setup, the children have already settled in fabulously. They are already following routines and structure allowing us to take part in a variety of topics, stories, and activities. Each day gives us the opportunity to explore through sensory play, selecting different tasks alongside complete our phonics, maths and writing challenges each day.
We Are All Different, is our first focus, giving us opportunity to learn about ourselves and each other. In circle time we sit talk about why the people in our lives are so special to us. This topic also includes, being unique. The Elmer series of books and The Rainbow Fish, both help us to delve further into our backgrounds and how we are all different.
A few weeks later, we read more about our bodies. We use the fantastic Funny Bones book to take us on an journey into learning about our bodies, discovering fascinating facts about our skeletons and the importance of staying healthy.
Willows seasonal topic brings us an adventure through Autumn. As part of our art activities, we have fun labelling colours, exploring senses that fill the air and making art with natural resources.
Further into the term we explore places around the world, comparing hot and cold, near and far as well as a selection of foods from around the world. Building up to stories about Christmas from different corners of the world; learning about how it's celebrated and traditions involved. This gives us chance to understand the world around us, create more art and designs, even expand our knowledge of the world we live in.
